Web Folders offer an alternative way of accessing your WWW folders on your ISP, usually accessed via an FTP account.
Web Folders in Windows:

- Require no added software
- Integrate with your desktop
- Drag-and-Drop of folders and files between your computer's hard drive and your ISP web folder
- Multiple file and folder uploads and downloads
- No need to use your FTP program to access, upload or download your web page files

Web Folder support is completely integrated into Windows XP, and it’s configured with the same ID and Password you would use in your FTP application.

Setting up Web Folders For Windows XP / ME / 2000

1. Use "Network Places...Add a Network Place"
2. Select "choose another network location"
3. For network location enter "the name of your ISP ftp server you login to to update your webpages”.

(For example it might be “ftp.crocker.com” or “upload.comcast.net”).
4. When prompted for a User Name and Password enter your ISP’s FTP Login ID and password.
5. Finally, give the “Network Place” we are creating a name of your choosing (for instance, "MyWebFolder")
Now you simply browse to that “folder” under “My Network Places” on your computer to perform file operations as if it was a local drive!

Setting up Web Folders For Windows 98 / NT

Sitecopy is another very useful tool that will mirror a local directory to your local directory to a WebDav or FTP server. Windows, Linux and OS/2 versions available. Read more about it here: http://www.lyra.org/sitecopy/why.html

If you have Netware 6.x you can use Netdrive to map a drive to your ISP's www directory.

CMS- Content Management Systems: A webpage with a setup wherein you can easily login to the page directly to make changes in your content, eliminating the need to use ftp for routine maintenance, allowing you to more readily update page content without relying on technical staff to make changes.
This site utilizes Joomla, which I thoroughly enjoy as it gives me a funky get up and dance feeling: setup is quick , and after a modest learning curve , a piece of cake to administer. You do need a hosted solution with PHP and MySQL access. Many local area ISP's offer these services in the range of only $10-$30 monthly, you might even be able to host a CMS system on the ISP you already have. We have a list of our favorite top 3, justs send us an email requesting that. A site that reviews lots of open source CMS systems is http://www.opensourcecms.com/.  Please call or email us for more info.
