UPDATE - The future of LocalCooling

Contribute towards the LocalCooling project by taking our survey

Since we launched LocalCooling in November 2006, the project has managed to raise the level of awareness about how PCs can contribute towards climate change. For some time, there has been an increasing level of consciousness amongst the global PC-using community that by optimizing your PC's power settings, you can save otherwise wasted energy. By using LocalCooling, you contributed to this in a big way.

However, the LocalCooling movement needs to move forward and look to the future, as over time the downloadable application will become increasingly redundant. With the release of Windows Vista, integral power management settings have been improved, and other developers have released tools similar to the LocalCooling application.

The LocalCooling team wants to do something positive going forward into the future, to continue to raise awareness and encourage the community to continue to be involved. There will be no more downloads of the application available from the website. However, we'd like to stress that this is NOT the end of the LocalCooling movement.

We want YOU to contribute towards the future of the project, by answering a simple question
on our survey.



We'll start to gather results from the survey on the 1st September 2008, so we'd like to have your input by the end of August and thereafter, we'll let you know the way forward.

Our goal is to introduce 100,000,000 PC users into the LocalCooling community. If just 100 million of us optimize the efficiency of our computers’ energy consumption, we could prevent over 300 billion kg of CO2 gas emissions, equivalent to over 1.8 billion gallons of oil, in just the first year alone.
