Hi header

  • Netgear has a new show stopper of a small business solution out: if you’ve been wanting to setup remote access for your small office this is your solution:

The new ProSafe Wireless-”N”, VPN Firewall offers easy to use SSL remote access for 5 users

( 5 more IPSEC connections), providing secure remote access to your corporate data for individual access anywhere and anytime without a software client. Very easy for end users. Not only that but you get a  high quality firewall, 4 1000mb(GB) switch ports, and not just wireless, but the new farther reaching and faster wireless “N” . This is a great all in one small business router and I expect to sell lots of them.  We can currently match CDW pricing. Support your local economy when buying components, PC’s and other hardware, there’s no excuse :) All ProSafe models come with a LIFETIME manufacturers warranty. This is due out within the next month.

  • Last chance for your free TechnotrashCan
  • I have not yet reached 30 respondents for our customer satisfaction survey yet so there is still a chance to win. If we do not get 30 responses, I plan to do a random drawing on all names who did fill out the survey on the 17th of Oct. Now is your last chance to register for the free 75lbs of techno trash recycling we are giving away as a thank you for filling out the 5 minute customer satisfaction survey. (see last month’s newsletter if you missed it: http:florenceit.net/wordpress). I really do appreciate your time answering the questions, thanks to all who participated.
  • 19This month we have some discounted pricing on quality Acer monitors we can pass on, like this 19″ widescreen (44668L)  for only $169.00.

That’s cheaper than Walmart is selling them (with none of the same business tactics needed to get that pricing (ahem)!  All of the “V” series monitors are discounted for a limited time so if you’re looking for another size or to replace a few in your office, we have better than usual prices now, call for a quote.

  • Here’s an alternate view of cloud computing. I must say I share some of Richard’s concerns and myself am hesitant especially when it comes to email. I’m not sure if I shared with you all that I created a gmail account for testing a few months back and consequently haven’t been using it except for a small email group I use it for with friends. After a few weeks my spam folder had about 100 spams in it. I never really used the account except for a few emails, and I publicized it to no one. My regular florenceit.net email account has been carefully guarded, with web contacts limited to hidden email links, and I’m please to say that after using the same email for 4 years I get VERY little spam (less than 10 week). If you get a lot of spam, give us a call.

Recently we implemented  Network scanning and document server solution to one of our construction industry customers. The HP Scanjet 7650 Series scanner offers quick, unattended scans at up to 12 pages per minute using an automatic document feeder that holds up to 50 pages. Warms up quickly – preview scans in about six seconds. Scan at 2400 dpi optical resolution and 48-bit color, and transfer scans quickly using Hi-Speed USB. Scan thick books and files with convenient adjustable lid, plus use the included adapter to scan 35 mm slides and negatives. Scan documents into editable text, organize and share digital files, and edit images. Use one-touch function buttons to scan documents, copy, scan to PDF files, e-mail, and scan images directly to a network or server drive. Save space with a landscape orientation. Scan legal-size documents in simplex mode using the automatic document feeder.  You can email from the device directly (a keyboard hooks up to it), opr access it via a internal web page (no softeware required on the network PC’s). This is a cost saving ($940 delivered) alternative to faxes and at a reasonable price – it MAY just eliminate the need for that huge office copier/fax you may be leasing, but it certainly can reduce your office’s paper usage.

  • The open source application of the month is Pencil,

a cross platform animation tool that exports MOV, flash and animated drawings. I haven;t yet played aroundwith it much and have yet to export a workable animation butthis looks promising. Executables for Mac, Windows and Linux.
Hasta Luego !
